Art Across Generations – Inspiring Meeting at the City Hall
News / Blog
Last Friday, the City Hall’s main chamber hosted a unique cultural event organized by the Stock Foundation. The meeting, dedicated to art and its multigenerational dimension, was led by an outstanding curator from the National Museum in Lublin, Danuta Szewczyk-Prokurat.
The lecture focused on the fascinating phenomenon of artistic talent being passed down from one generation to another. Participants explored stories of masters whose works were continued or completed by their children, revealing how creativity and craftsmanship can transcend time within families.
The presentation was enriched with remarkable examples from art history, including works by Pieter Bruegel, Peter Paul Rubens, and the Kossak family, illustrating how artistic heritage evolves across generations.
A particularly engaging part of the meeting was devoted to the Sagrada Família – Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece in Barcelona. Its construction, spanning decades, has involved multiple generations of artists and architects, making it a powerful symbol of collective, intergenerational creation.
The event was addressed to seniors under the care of the City Hall, which also served as the host of the gathering. It offered an inspiring opportunity to reflect on continuity, legacy, and the enduring power of art to connect people across generations.
