The experience of war leaves marks that do not disappear once people leave the conflict zone. The Stock Foundation gives people affected by war trauma access to professional psychological and psychotherapeutic help, also provided in their native language. A safe relationship with a therapist helps them work through difficult experiences, rebuild a sense of security and regain the ability to cope with everyday life. It is long-term support that offers a chance to return to a normal life.

How it started

The program started in 2022 as part of “Spirit of Ukraine”, the foundation’s response to the arrival of refugees from Ukraine in Lublin. The other areas of that program ended in 2023, while psychological support has continued without a break and is now the foundation of our work.

How it works in practice

Therapy is provided by three psychotherapists trained in Ukraine who speak fluent Polish and have worked with the foundation for four years. Sessions are individual. Participants talk about difficult emotions and learn practical ways of coping with stress and trauma: relaxation techniques, mindfulness and breathing exercises.

The first summary of the program, published in early 2024, reported 100 people and 1,200 hours of sessions. In 2025 alone the therapists supported 120 people and spent 1,013 hours in sessions with them.
